What is Poetry to me?

What's Poetry to me?

It's much more than the words sprawled on the pages of a book or on my screen. Poetry breathes, damn! Maybe more than I do, dunno. But I surely believe that because I've read poems that gives life to me, poems that awakens the Void and the abstract world that exist in my head and on paper.

It started with the recom
mended poems in secondary school. The flow was so smooth that I was always excited whenever we're given assignment to write our interpretation, to actually dissect the poems, line by lines.

Shakespearea is one great inspiration, I sure do love him and his books. He's like my role model or mentor.
Robert Frost's _Birches_ and _Fire and Ice_ are awesome poems.

Back then, I was able to recite the recommended poems everytime because I was always writing about them.

Then there was Teacher Anuta, I love that man so much, I love his poems more. So simple and sharp that they awaken the senses in me. It's actually a great honor for me to be working together with him on a project, I can't be more glad. It's like having Shakespeare in your dm😩😩😩.

Although I honestly can't relate to half of my poems, I'm part of those lesser population of poets who didn't start writing as a result of   an experience. Poetry has just been there, like Ellah do tell me, just a tap into it and boom. That boom is usually nonsenseπŸ˜ΉπŸ˜ΉπŸ˜ΉπŸ’” at least that's what I usually think until someone says hey it's awesome and I'm always like really?

Is it weird to say at times i don't understand my poems, I'm that weird, but poetry is everything. I can't stop writing it, I once stopped and it was horrible, heck, I cried so much but it came back.

I also love how easy it is for my to express my imagination through Poetry within small time. Most of my poems are written in few minutes or less than, and some surely do take daysπŸ˜ΉπŸ˜ΉπŸ˜ΉπŸ’”πŸ’”.

Poetry is  larger than life itself, it's an art form not only to be imagined but felt, witnessed and something I can happily wallow in.

  16. Poetry has been since the beginning of civilisation and it has found a way of becoming a part of us. Poetry itself has now become one of the instruments which life can be seen through. This is an intriguing article, Area 51.

  17. I have my own idea of poetry..

These words I write, like magic they come
They reveal themselves, in ways unknown
Like water, they slip out of my grasp
    Changing form with every move
Fluidity is what they're known for
Yet they are rigid in form,
    Whenever they wish to be
My hands blur, I can't seem to remember
The lines I created, from a jumble of words
The masterpiece of art I created
    With my very own hands
    From nothing, I formed words
    Melding into expression
From a scattered array of words
    I made a different world
I live as words, from an unknown tongue
I live as expressions, beauty unfeigned
I live as poetry, words weaving and melding
    Into one flawless masterpiece
    I live as words....

    This, is poetry to me.
I loved your rendition of poetry, it's deep and inspiring. Amazing work!

  26. Poetry is therapeutic
    Poetry is solace...
    Poetry is holds life
Poetry is a gentle loud voice... Yes bcos it's quite yet rings through
    Poetry has essence

Just like you said poetry breathes... Ifeel it too. The breathe of lovely woven words washes through me. It's like I hold my own breathe to savour the way every word flows through, a realization of great depth and entrance into the world of another. And bcoz I am foreigner I just stare around amazed that beauty lives here too, just like it leaves in sephace, Apo_eunnice, Koko, W. Profession, pepper, Koko.
I am not much of a writer, but poetry speaks to me louder than the voice of many crowds.

Beauty resides here too Zoe.. Weldone
